Hardly any other tropical fruit is experiencing a major boom as the small, dark purple acai berry of the Açaí palm. Açaí is sustainably extracted in the Amazon rainforest and has been interesting because of its nutrients and active composition as "nature's perfect food." Due to their high concentration of anthocyanins, the little berry on the highest measured antioxidant capacity of all fruits has worldwide. It also offers an optimal fatty acid structure as well as potassium, calcium, iron and fiber.
Originally from Central America and Brazil bright red Acerola (Barbados cherry) has approximately 1680 mg/100 g up to 50 times more vitamin C than oranges. It is thus considered one of the vitamin C-rich fruits ever. It also contains vitamins A and B2, as well as magnesium and potassium.
