23 THOUGHTS ON “I’M A VEGAN BUT GOT OFFERED A JOB WITH A MAKEUP COMPANY THAT TESTS ON ANIMALS BUT I’VE BEEN UNEMPLOYED….”

  1. There are no 100% vegans. We all compromise somewhere and do the best we can. You need employment; it doesn’t have to be forever. Your health and well-being must come first. You can be compassionate in many other ways. Best wishes!

  2. That’s a tricky one. You could use it to get yourself on your feet, all the while giving a small amount of income to animal causes as an ‘offset’, and possibly even motivating for change from within the company (no matter what your position). Then move on when another job comes along and you feel you’ve spent enough time with those that offered you this job. I guess it depends on how badly you need the job now but if you have to take it I do believe there are ways to better your position.

  3. As a fellow vegan, I understand that this is a hard decision, but I think that getting a job and being able to provide for yourself is the more important thing in this situation. From what you said, it doesn’t seem like you’re doing the animal testing yourself. Unless you have another job available, there’s really nothing you can do about it. Getting a job in these times is really hard and I think you should just go for it. It is your call though in the end though. Good luck!

  4. Rachel please do some research before you make ignorant statements. Animals are indeed tortured when tested on so you have absolutely no clue on what you claim is true. Back to the question, I think if you were to take the job you would be trading in your morals and beliefs for money which is pretty low in my opinion.

  5. i think if you take the job you would be a total hypocrite. itd be a case of do as i say and not as i do. how about getting a job in land of leather or in a butchers.

  6. Good lord, Im vegetarian and I dont use products tested on animals. I wouldnt take the job, my morals mean more to me than money. I dont think you should take it. Do you really want to sell your values and opinions for hourly pay? Is it really even an option? I dont think so, but whatever. You’ll find another job opportunity, hang in there.
